Complete Guide to Kashi Vishwanath Temple Darshan, Timings & Entry Gates
Kashi Vishwanath Temple: The Sacred Golden Heart of Varanasi
Kashi Vishwanath Temple stands as the spiritual epicenter of Hinduism and one of the most revered among the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas. Dedicated to Lord Shiva as the Lord of the Universe (Vishwanath), this divine shrine situated along the holy Ganges has welcomed millions of pilgrims, sages, and seekers for thousands of years. Following the construction of the magnificent Kashi Vishwanath Corridor (Dham), pilgrimage to this sacred complex has transformed into a spacious, accessible, and seamless spiritual experience.

- Bhoga Aarti (11:15 AM – 12:20 PM): Midday bhog offering to the Lord accompanied by traditional conch and damru chants.
- Sandhya Aarti (7:00 PM – 8:15 PM): Spectacular evening evening rituals resonant with Vedic stotras.
- Shringara Aarti (9:00 PM – 10:15 PM): Special floral decoration and ornamentation ceremony.
- Shayana Aarti (10:30 PM – 11:00 PM): Nighttime slumber aarti marking temple closure.
Entry Gates & Best Access Routes
The Kashi Vishwanath Dham complex has multiple gates. Choosing the right gate saves significant walking time:
- Gate No. 4 (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Gate / Godowlia side): The most popular pedestrian entry connecting Dashashwamedh and Bansphatak.
- Ganga View Gateway (Manikarnika / Lalita Ghat Entry): Ideal for pilgrims taking a holy bath in the Ganges before entering directly into the corridor without navigating narrow city lanes.
- Gate No. 1 (Dhunki Gate): Convenient for senior citizens and pre-booked Sugam Darshan ticket holders.
Important Temple Rules, Lockers & Dress Code
Electronic gadgets including mobile phones, smartwatches, cameras, leather belts, and large bags are strictly prohibited inside the main sanctum sanctorum (Garbhagriha). Free and token-based locker facilities managed by the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust are situated near Gate 4 and within the corridor plaza. Modest traditional attire (dhoti/kurta for men, saree/salwar for women) is recommended, especially for SPARSH (direct touch) darshan during early morning hours.
KVTT Pilgrimage Concierge Tip: For elderly family members and pilgrims with walking challenges, book our dedicated Senior Citizen Assisted Darshan featuring battery cart transfers and wheelchair support right from Godowlia to the temple corridor.
